MY REVIEW :
PROS :
- The world building was very well rounded and it was not a romantic fantasy but a well written fantasy story with romance as it subplots. The essence of Ancient Greece and the cleverly woven descriptions set complete fire to my imagination.
- Now coming to the characters. I would say that this series managed to create a cast of characters with very different backgrounds and different stories to tell. I loved how rich the characters were but sometimes felt that the Regent gave off a moustache-twirling villainous vibes and that kinda put me off.
- The romance is the highlight of the entire series. Its subtle. slow-burn and took my breath away. I love anti-hero characters and Laurent and Damen were absolutely beautiful together.
CONS :
- I think some characters could have been much more developed rather than mere characters to progress the main plot.
- Jocasta was the only notable female character from this book and still, she was seen as this villain. I know that this series is based off a patriarchal society but I would have loved more female representation in the series.
